EDLounge continues to focus on providing its learners access to technology and online learning through its assessment, coursework, “live” lessons and progress reviews.

EDLounge believes (in line with its e-safety and business continuity policies), that the learner should never be disadvantaged due to external barriers.

Guidance for video lessons and calls

EDLounge tutor/assessors will send learners a timetable of lessons to support remote learning
All EDLounge learners must ensure that they are available and ready to learn on the agreed day, date and time for the planned lesson or review
All learners must ensure that other members of the household are informed and aware of the planned call, so as to minimise any disruption to the lesson and others within the household.
Any devices used should be located in appropriate areas, for example, not in bedrooms, and where possible be against a neutral background.
Language and behaviour must be professional and appropriate, in line with EDLounge behaviour expectations within the learner handbook. This standard of appropriate behaviour also applies to any other family members in the background.
The same standards from face to face meetings and lessons apply to online remote communication and teaching in line with the EDLounge code of conduct in the learner handbook.
Wherever possible, “live” online sessions will be recorded and stored securely on our internal drive. This is to safeguard both the learner and tutor if any issues arise during the lesson, but these recordings are also used for staff training and quality assurance purposes.
If parents or guardians are involved in supporting learners 16-18 or vulnerable adults they must be visible on camera and confirm their identity, giving their consent for their children or vulnerable adult to engage in learning.

Group Video Lessons/Communications

These will be in group conversations or shared vocational interest lessons
If learners 16-18 or a vulnerable adult take part in group or video conversations, they can be viewed by the EDLounge Tutor/ Assessor and other learners (and members of the household) that are part of the conversation.
Any parents or guardians supporting young people or vulnerable adults will need to be visible on camera and give their consent for the learner to take part in a group video conversation or lesson.
If the EDLounge Tutor/ Assessor has any concerns about the learner (or any other member of the household) using unsuitable language or behaviour they will end the conversation or lesson and refer their concerns to the EDLounge delivery coordinator and/or the Safeguarding Lead.
All “live” classes should be kept to a reasonable length of time (30-45 mins) and should (where possible) take place during normal lesson times.

1-1 Video Conversations and Lessons

EDLounge staff will only contact a learner in line with an agreed teaching timetable or prior agreement.

This will be a pre-arranged day, date and time.

I will

Only open documents that my Tutor/Assessor or parent/guardian have confirmed are safe.
Talk to my Tutor, parent or guardian and/or refer to the EDLounge internet safety policy and guidance before using anything on the internet that I am unsure about.
Inform my Tutor, parent or guardian if I find anything concerning or distressing on the internet I am unsure about
Make sure any messages/emails I sent to my Tutor or others are polite and positive
Inform my Tutor, parent or guardian if I have any messages or comments that are threatening or unsuitable
Not share my personal information or phone number with anyone I do not know online
Keep my passwords private and change these on a regular basis to avoid threats and scams
Never agree to share photos, videos or information online with anyone I do not know.
