For apprenticeships it is importance that you develop you wider skills.  It is important that you develop these wider key skills inside and out of the workplace to help improve your performances.  Wider Skills help show the employer that you are an all-round performer and they can be developed and improved on every day.   

As an apprentice you must develop your wider key skills by Improving:

- I.T Skills
- Teamwork
                              - Literacy and Numeracy skills
- Communication skills 
- Application of skills
- Behaviour development

- Manage your own diary

- Telephone and email communication
- Customer relations
- Dealing with other employees
- Willingness to listen and ask questions


By having wider key skills and a positive attitude towards learning and training then positive outcomes, skill development and progress occurs. 


By improving these skills you start to address day to day problems that arise in your career. Problem solving is:

  • recognising problems  
  • listening, thinking and communicating 
  • identifying and evaluating possible solutions 
  • putting a solution in place 
  • constantly improving
